Louis VI (Louis J. Butler) is a mixed-race rapper, composer, filmmaker, zoologist, and nature activist known for blending music and environmental storytelling. Through documentaries, keynote speeches, and creative projects, he reconnects underrepresented communities with nature, aiming to build a new generation of diverse nature lovers.
He spoke at COP26 on the colonial roots of climate change and the exclusion of people of colour from nature spaces, expanding on themes from his award-winning documentary The World Is (Y)ours (with POCC and Tanya Ramsurrun), which encouraged climate-conscious voting among young Black and Brown audiences.

As Creator in Residence at the BBC Natural History Unit, Louis worked on diversifying storytelling in nature documentaries, including contributing sound to Blue Planet III. He’s since delivered powerful keynotes at GEI16, Beyond the Music, and the British Phonographic Industry conference, advocating for music as a force in climate activism. He’s collaborated with leaders and creatives like Dale Vince, Fay Milton, and Dominique Palmer, and recently presented his upcoming film Nature Ain’t a Luxury at the BBC’s Climate Creatives event, highlighting the intersections of race, climate justice, and culture.
